Our Mission
Spanish Peaks HealthCare Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established under the Colorado Nonprofit Foundation Act. Our mission is to support the vision and goals of SPRHC/VCLC through fund development, community outreach, and health education to meet the healthcare needs of Huerfano County citizens and improve their health status, with special attention to those most at risk.
Our History
Since its inception in 2002, Spanish Peaks HealthCare Foundation has been dedicated to:
- Providing scholarships for Huerfano County students pursuing careers in healthcare.
- High School Lecture Programs.
- Organizing fundraising events.
- Partnering with Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center to enhance local healthcare services.
- Providing support and requested donations to Spanish Peaks Veterans Community Living Center.
Governance
A volunteer Board of Directors governs the Foundation and operates without general membership.
Officers include:

Scholarships
Since 2017, we have awarded $226,250 to students in Huerfano County. In 2026, we are thrilled to announce that $34,500 in scholarships was awarded!
Spanish Peaks HealthCare Foundation scholarships may be awarded to individuals residing and/or working in Huerfano County who hold a high school diploma or equivalent and wish to pursue a career in any biomedical or healthcare-related field. The scholarship program is designed to support these individuals as they advance their education through vocational training, certification programs, associate degrees, or four-year college programs.
