Our Mission
Spanish Peaks HealthCare Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established under the Colorado Nonprofit Foundation Act. Our mission is to support the vision and goals of SPRHC/VCLC through fund development, community outreach, and health education in order to meet the healthcare needs and improve the health status of Huerfano County citizens, with special attention to those most at risk.
Our History
Since its inception in 2002, Spanish Peaks HealthCare Foundation has been dedicated to:
- Providing scholarships for Huerfano County students pursuing careers in healthcare.
- High School Lecture Programs.
- Organizing fundraising events.
- Partnering with Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center to enhance local healthcare services.
- Providing support and requested donations to Spanish Peaks Veterans Community Living Center.
Governance
A volunteer Board of Directors governs the Foundation and operates without general membership.

Scholarships
Since 2017, we have awarded $191,750 to students in Huerfano County. In 2025, we are thrilled to announce a record-high $37,000 in scholarships!
Scholarships are OPEN! Applications are due Friday, April 17, 2026
Spanish Peaks HealthCare Foundation scholarships may be awarded to individuals residing and/or working in Huerfano County who hold a high school diploma or equivalent and wish to pursue a career in any biomedical or healthcare-related field. The scholarship program is designed to support these individuals as they advance their education through vocational training, certification programs, associate degrees, or four-year college programs.
